SemiFinal Game 2 : Blues 2 - 3 Assassins

Blues led 2-1 at the half, then Blues took 2 costly penalties one by Hardeep "Tin Man" Sandhu and the other by Gursher "Caged Gorilla" Randhawa which resulted in 2 goals for the Assassins. One of the goals, Bal "Last player to get dressed all season long" Mattu lost focus and didn't get paddle down in time as a impossible shot squeaked through his pads from a 180 degree angle.

Overall Blues played an excellent team game and had the Assassins on the ropes but lack of experience showed and cost them in the end.

Great season boyz, it was a ton of fun. Look forward to getting team in again next year.

SemiFinal Game 1 : Assassins 5 - Blues 2

Blues were not ready to play at start of this one. Goalie Bal "Tatu" Mattu, Tin Man, Gabar, Bob weren't in game shape. Blues turned over the ball 3 times in first half which resulted in breakway goals from the "shitty" Asssasins. Turning over the ball was Amar "I need leg replacements" Sandhu who popped his tiny muscle around his leg on in first 2 minutes which resulted in a breakaway goal. Shortly thereafter Kapil "Baray Mia, Shotay Mia" Gaba turned it over at the Blue line which resulted in second goal. A little later Kevin "Crown Royal" Singh trying to be too cute at the redline on a PP turned it over which resulted in 3rd goal. Blues did not execute their game plan to play good team defense and it cost them dearly.

In the second half the Blues poured it on and forced Assassins to take penalty after penalty. Harvir "Shooter" Sidhu popped on in from right side making it 3-1. Blues had numerous chances over next 10 minutes on PP but the Assassin goalie played on his head. The Tank laid out a sweet check on one of the chubby assassins and got instant feedback from the ASSES bench. It didn't phase him one bit.

In the end Blues had to pull their goalie still couldn't score on a flurry of chances and opposition got an empty net goal.

Looking forward to Game 2, do or die. Blues are feeling confident they can upset the #1 seed if they stick to their gameplan.

QuarterFinal Game 2 : Devils 0 - Blues 5

Both teams had full benches in this 2nd game in best of 3. Blues were pumped up for this one and once again came out strong with the forecheck and scored early at 1 minute mark with Bob "Sniper Sota" Dosanjh popping Devils cherry early. With 15 minutes of no scoring, Martin Gringberg on a solo forecheck effort put one past Devils goal short side on a wrap around, what a beauty and huge goal!!!

The Blues defense played an outstanding game feeding the forwards pass after pass and limiting Devil's opportunities to zilch. In the second half Blues had a few powerplays and Blues forwards Martin scoring another one and Gary Gill scoring 2 on a PP on rebounds from Tank's shot from the point. This was a fast paced game, Blues came out on top once again.

Next up Assassins, this should be a great series.

QuarterFinal Game 1 : Blues 6 - Devils 2

Both teams had short benches in first ever playoff meeting which Devils a few less players than Blues. Nonetheless Blues were pumped up for playoffs and came out flying. Martin "Russian" Gringberg deked goalie 5 hole going side to side putting Blues up 1-0 early. Next up Harvir "Shooter" Sidhu put one top corner 2 minutes later giving the Blues 2-0 lead. Despite being outshot badly the Devils goalie made some highlight reel saves. The Devils got a goal at 10 minute mark when Hardeep "I like to score on my own net" trying to pass back to Gabar Singh inadvertantly put the ball into his own net, the Devils bench burst out laughing and the Blues bench was in shocking watching the dynamic duo of Hardo and Gabar manning the Blue's defense. The Tank simply put his head down and uttered a prayer.

The second half Blues poured it on scoring 4 times with Bindy, Harvir, Kaji and Gringberg scoring beauties. After the game Blues headed out to Blueberry Balu's 10 anniversary party at Bombay Banquet hall with a shower pitstop at Bin's house. We had a few refreshing beverages, butter chicken and danced a little, then called it a day focusing on preparation for Game 2.

Vipers 1 - Blues 5

In the final regular season game of the season, Blues took control of this one early and never looked back. The line of Bindy, Bob and Inderbir scored a total of 8 points, with Bob Dosanjh scoring 4 goals (2 of them breakaways) and Kevin Singh beating entire Viper defense to roof one top corner glove side on Viper goalie. Bob Dosanjh through final season led the team in goals with 11 and Bindy in points with 19.

Sandip "Sun Editorial Page A13" Dulay played net in this one as Bal "I got things to do" Mattu sat out resting his aging body.

Blues are now gearing up for first playoff quarter final game against the penalty taking Devils. First game is Sunday July 5th Langley 7:30pm.

Great season overall for a new comer team with a record of 10-7-1, 8 players on the team have never played in any hockey league before. It certainly won't be there last as the Tank has vowed to put Blues back in again next year. Little Gaba Travels is extremely happy and will be sponsoring the team again next year.

Vipers 0 - Blues 3

Vipers had a short bench in this game but worked hard. Blues Bob "Soft Hands" Dosanjh started scoring late in second half short-handed when Gur "The Tank" Randhawa fed a nice pass sending the tall lanky east indian on a breakaway. Mr Dosanjh then effortlessly deked goalie nicely to right and popped back hand top corner. In the second half the line of Bindy Inderbir and Bob popped in 2 more to make it a final of 3 - 0.

The Blues outshot the hard working Vipers 15 - 8. Blues Bal "I'm too sick to play" Mattu played well when tested in first half earning him the shutout. The young line of Harvir Jas and Kaji had a good game controlling play in Viper zone but could not finish. Other notibles were The Tank moving up to give the 3rd line some scoring opportunities while Sandip "I need to get in shape" Dulay moved back as he couldn't keep up with the 2 snipers who like to run every 2nd shift namely Hardeep "Tin Man" Sahota and Gary "Butterscotch Milkshake Lover" Gill.

Next up final game of the season for the Blues and Vipers at Planet Ice Coquitlam Thurs July 2nd 8pm.

Blues 7 - Scorpionz 1

In the final regular season showdown between these 2 Indo Canadian ball hockey pride was on the line, both teams fielding a full-lineup. Blues had a first of 4 lines this game, to keep tempo up they rolled lines efficiently with 1 minute shifts.

Blues team captain, "The Tank" Randhawa like a modern day Brett Hull blasted a wrist shot past Scorpio goal taking a sexy pass from Martin "The Russian" Gringberg. 49 seconds later the unthinkable, unimaginable most amazing thing happened, Gursher "Gorilla Cage" Randhawa scored!!! Most of the guys were still reminiscing the Tank's laser beam of a goal and completely missed historical event but it happened, we are still trying to determine how this goal came about.

Anyways the Blues forwards pressed hard on Scorpionz defense and got a couple consecutive powerplays. On the first PP Bob Dosanjh scored a beauty from Bindy "All In" Aulukh and Kevin "CR" Singh. The second PP The Tank blasted his second of the game top corner again from a nice feed from Martin "The Russian" Gringberg and Sukh "The Grinder" Dosanjh.

Up 4-1 and in command of the game, on a Blues defensive breakdown Scorpios capitalized and got one past Bal "I'm going to find a wife to be this year" Mattu. 50 seconds later Inderbir broke in on a semi breakaway, like a pro holding on to the ball fed a sweet pass to the trailing Hardeep "Tin Man" Sandhu on a breakaway who put one past Scorpio goalie glove side. With 3 minutes left in first half Bindy "All In" Aulukh leading point man on the team on a quick turnaround caught goalie napping and putting one low post.

In the second half Blues played a strong team defensive game with The Tank leading the way running the flow back and forth deserving of the Selke trophy of their was one. The captain drew a couple penalties of one which he took a dirty hit from one of the giant scorpionz in the corner. At the tail end of period with 4 minutes left Harvir "Head Down" Sidhu scored on a deflection off scorpion defenseman. Mr Sidhu now has 11 goals on the season with no assists, the moto of the young line being just give the ball to Sidhu and let him fire away.

Total shots in this one was 15 - 12 in favour of the Blues. Other notibale plays was Bal "ICBC" Mattu making a left pad save on a penalty shot midway through second period.

Next game is Sunday June 28th 7:30 Langley against Vipers.

Blues 1 - Tornadoes 5

In the final season match up between these 2 powerhouses, Tornadoes came out on top. Blues played well first half just down by one. Tornadoes opened scoring mid way through second half. Blues then had 3 PP's in a row and midway through 3 PP got brokedown defensively and got caught shorthanded resulting in a penalty shot for Tornadoes. Captain of Tornadoes beat Jimmy "I always cum late" Mattu top corner blocker side. The Blues on tail end of their PP got one back with the Tank blasting one from the point from a nice Gary Bal feed. Starting the second half down 2-1, the Tank took a costly interference penalty resulting in another goal by Tornadoes on PP.

The second half was a total no show for the Blues forwards who could not get anything going despite a few chances. They turned over the ball numerous times resulting in final score of 5-1. Returning to the lineup after a 10 game abscense was Hardeep "Tin Man" Sandhu who had a decent game.

Blues management is not happy with Gursher "My face is stuck in a cage" Randhawa who offensively is on a 15 game goal drought, he had a few good offensive rushes keeping ball pinned in Tornadoes zone, but defensively positioning was absolutely atrocious and comical to watch. Blues also need more offensive production from Inderbir "I'm focused on moving into a new house" Sandhu, and Jas "Sunripe Drinker" Brar to be successful in the playoffs. Finally Martin "The Russian" Grinberg needs to pick up the slack from poor showing last couple games. The young core of the Blues will be the key to how far the Blues progress in the post season.

Blues management is looking forward to return of Bob "Goal Scorer" Dosanjh, Sukh "Upgrade IPhone 3.0" Dosanjh and Kevin "Papa" Singh in the lineup, 3 key players. With a full lineup Blues will be tough to beat in down the latter stretch.

Next game Wednesday June 24th 8pm Langley Sportsplex against the not so deadly variety of scorpionz.

Team BBQ in July - TBD

Blues are having a team BBQ at either Bindy's or Bob's house in Langley/South Surrey sometime in July.

An opportunity for the guys on the team to get to know each other more intimately and discuss hockey strategy. There will be a alot of "sticks and balls" to educate young guns on game play.

Blues management will be providing vegetarian burger/dog varieties. We also expect the great "Big Balu" to sacrifice a goat/pig/some animal this evening.

Good times.

Assassins 2 - Blues 3

Blues had their hands full playing the #1 ranked team in the division. Bindy "All In" Aulukh was fired up for this game and had a game plan. Not too be disclosed here on the blog of course.

The game plan worked with the Blues taking a 2-0 lead on the deadly PP once again with young Kaji scoring first and then Bindy "All in" Aulukh. The Blues team defense was outstanding limiting Assassins scoring chances. Total shots were 19 - 16 in favour of Assassins. The Blues continued to frustrate the Assassins in 2nd half getting more PP however could not capitalize. Assassins then got one of their own midway through second half beating goalie Mattu short side. Blues not to be outdone scored again on the PP by Kevin Singh. The Assassins replied late with a lucky bounce off Kevin trickling through Mattu's pads. Sandip Dulay then like a warrior cleared the zone once and blocked 2 shots to close the deal upsetting the highly touted Assassins.

This was by far the Blues best game so far, leading into the final stretch of the season the Blues now have a system with players buying into it. Hope to continue this type of play leading into the playoffs.

Next up Tornadoes, Sunday June 21st in Langley.

Tornadoes 2 - Blues 3

In this Sunday night matchup at Langley Sportsplex, the Blues had wiley veteran Kevin "Crown Royal" Singh in the lineup playing defense. Kevin just underwent some reconstructive nose surgery and a week later with a shiny new visor couldn't stay away from the game he loves. What a guy!!!

Tornadoes came out as their name implies with a flurry of scoring chances utilizing their speedy wingers and pinching defense. They went up 2 - 0 on the Blues by early second half. The Tornadoes then went crazy and took 8 penalties rest of the way. The Blues with their deadly silent killer PP capitalized. Scoring first was Bindy Aulukh on a all veteran PP, with The Tank, Gary Bal, Bindy, Sandip and Kevin moving the ball around like pro's. On the second PP the Tank created a mini tornado in the corner taking the ball away from Tornadoes and young sniper Kaji Hundal wristed it past their goalie.

The game went into O.T with nothing solved. Then came shoot out with Gary Bal deking the pants off Tornadoes goalie. Rest of the way no one scored as Bal "I gotta get my life in order" Mattu stopped every shooter. Blues strength lies in this young 38 year old goaltending who doesn't like warmups and has a pre-game ritual of serenating the toilet at least 4 times before leaving the dressing room. One of a kind!!!

Blues 3 - Demons 6

In the season meeting between these 2 hate rivals, Demons went up quickly 4-0 in the first half on poor Blues defensive coverage. The young Blues forwards could not gather any momemtum and turned the ball over again and again. After a pep talk mid way through first half, Blues sniper Harvir "I can shoot" Sidhu blasted one top corner, followed by Martin "Russian" Gringberg burying one on Demon's netminder. Early in the second half on PP Gary "Dipsie Doodle" Bal blasted one from the point bringing the Blues close by 1. The Blues had the Demons on the ropes but could not close the deal again due to poor defensive coverage, the last goal being turned over by clearing attempt by Bal "I'm 58.546%" Mattu. Blues played Demon's tough this season and hopefully get some revenge in playoffs.

Devils 3 vs Blues 2

Devils took this one on 2 costly defensive mishaps by the Tank caught pinching which resulted in 2 goals. The Devils goalie was outstanding stifling Blues offensive. Devils were up 2-0 going into the second half. Harvir "Head down" Sidhu then scored early in the second half with a pretty feed from Inderbir "I need to start scoring" Sandhu. The Devils then got a lucky bounce and scored again late second half. Blues on the PP scored by Martin "Russian" Gringberg made it close in the dying minutes. Blues let this one get away.

Devils 1 - Blues 3

This was a feisty affair between 2 teams who are building up a heated rivalry. Blues started this game sloppy specifically the forwards who could not maintain ball control in Devils zone. Devils scored first on a flurry of chances and finally popping one by veteran old man Bal "Chachu" Mattu. Bindy then tied it up with on a breakaway pass deking Devils goalie jockstrap right off.

In the second half a scuffle in Devils zone between Inderbir and another Devil defenseman erupted with the Devil dropping his gloves and throwing haymakers on Inderbir "I'm gonna finish this on Sunday" Hundal. Smartly Mr Hundal did not retaliate and Blues came out on top with a PP. On the PP Martin scored on a sweet pass from Sukh "I love Harry Potter" Dosanjh. Thereafter the Tank invoked some revenge from earlier incident on Devils forward hacking and wacking Devils forward (no shin guards) in Blues zone. The Devil cried "owwwwwwwieee", but the Tank didn't stop and in elegant fashion totally mutilated the Devils scrawny legs. No penalty called as the slashes were smartly timed. He never returned as the next shift he lost control and was ejected out of the game.

Harvir "I hate passing" Sidhu scored in last 5 minutes to put Blues up for good 3-1. Overall Blues defense had an outstanding game even after losing Sony "I tore my achilles heel" Kaila who won't be returning for remainder of the season.

Blues are looking to pick up another defenseman, Amar has indicated he knows a Black ex CFL dude who can play ball hockey. We hope to add this superstar to the lineup by this week sometime.

Blues 7 - Scorpionz 1

Blues dominated this rematch against not so deadly kind Surrey Scorpionz. Blues tallied 6 in the first half, started by Gur "The Tank" Randhawa keeping the play alive in Scorpionz zone feeding Inderbir "Sniper" Sandhu who fed a sweet pass to Bindy "I got game" Aulukh with easy redirect into wide open net. A beauty of a goal to get things started!!!

Blues passed the ball extremely well in this game and controlled most of the play. Other scorers were Bob "Peg Sheg" Dosanjh who was hammered yet managed a goal, Sukh "White Helmet" Dosanjh, Harvir "Head down" Sidhu, Bindy "All In" Aulukh and veteran BrigHouse Knight defenseman Kevin "Crown Royal" Singh getting 2 in only his second game.

Injured players were Hardeep "I need to get on the treadmill" Sandhu, Vampire brother Amar "Banana Singh" Sandhu and also Gary "Sore Groin" Gill.

The game was played at Langley Sportsplex rink, this was the best rink Blues have played to date this year and are looking forward to alot more games here. It also gives time for Peg Sheg Dosanjh to knock a few down before a game. You can tell because his eyes get cross-eyed lazy, but we love the guy, what a character!!! Blues 4 - Devils 3

Sloppiest game in Blues history, Blues started strong with Harvir "Head Down" Sidhu scoring first. The Devils then tied it up getting to a loose ball, Blues D could not clear the zone. This game was played at Planet Ice Rink 2 which is one of the slipperiest floors in all arenas. Alot of players were falling all over the ice, in one play alone 2 Blues trying to pass to each other slipped and turned the ball over to one of the Devils. It was pretty sloppy slippery play. The Devils ended up taking some costly penalties which allowed the Blues to take the lead with Bindy "All In" Aulukh scoring putting the Blues up 2-1. The Devils then undressed Kapil "I got not Kachii" Gaba and scored on Bal "Budda Chacha" Mattu. The Blues then anchored by the Tank scored 2 on PP with Harvir and Bob "Lumba Sota" Dosanjh who got a backhand rebound from the Tanks deadly shot. The Devils added a late goal scoring off a rush from the left side top left corner on Chacha.

The Blues fended off the Devils and sent them back to hell in the last 2 minutes of the game. There was one Devil who got kicked out of the game for taking too many penalties and making racial slurs calling us "Hindus", gorilla cage Gursher punched the Devil in the face and took one for the team teaching redneck a lesson. Pretty retarded Devil that guy was, he's lucky guys didn't fix him after the game.

"We'll take the 2 points and get out of here" quoted Bindy after the game as it was a sloppy game by the Blues. We are looking forward to a rematch in a different rink. Blues outshot Devils 33 - 23.

Blues 1 - Demons 3

In this rematch Blues defense played hard, but a few costly missed coverages by forwards cost Blues 3 goals in the first half. Demons opened the game pressuring Blues in their own end. Blues forward Bob "Limp Sota" Dosanjh wasn't himself this game as he had a glazed yellow eyed look all game and could not clear the zone, hence a shot from one of the many fat demons deflected off Limp Sota's stick. Blues best player of the night Martin "Wisdom Tooth No More" Grinberg took a feed from Sandip "I have an opinion about everything" Dulay and Gur "Need Anger Management Therapy" Randhawa and scored a beauty beating short demon goalie low to the left side. A few fat demons scored again on 2 missed coverages by Limp Sota and Gursher "Still wear gorilla cage helmet" Randhawa. Blues took 7 penalties the whole game, 2 of them 4 minute high sticking calls on Amar "Banana Eating Protein Shake Drinking Vampire" Sandhu and Tampon. The second half got a bit ugly in this game as Grinberg was hip checked hard at the demon blue line by one of the taller fat demon's, shortly thereafter captain "The Tank" lost it and came rumbling in to pummel the bad demon back to hell, instead the Tank stared the tall fat demon down and uttered every curse word known in the western hemisphere in a godly military drill seargant voice. The scared demon pissed in his jock strap, as a foul smell overtook the floor.

Blues overall had to kill 7 PP's and were short-handed most of the game but improved overall compared to their last meeting with the demon team. We are looking forward to next match in grabbing demon's and sending them back to hell.

Honorable mention this game, Martin "I got game" Grinberg was outstanding this game. Bindy "All In" Aulukh was a trooper as he took a stick to the face and still kept going. Harvir "I don't pass" Sidhu also took a ball to the face and had a black eye. And finally Deesh "I love this game" Khaira hurt his should as he got tripped by one of the few skinny demons.

We need to work on our PP, may schedule a practice for this Sunday. The next 4 games are crucial as we play sub 500 teams and need to bring our best game to the floor.

Blues 5 - Tornadoes 4 (OT)

This was a crazy fun teeter tawter of a game, to be remembered for the ages. After working 14 hours election day Gur "The Tank" Randhawa arrived at the game already in progress with 5 minutes elapsed and a scoreless game. Blues killed a few early powerplays and scored 3 goals in the first half. Goal scorers were Bob, Bindy and Harvir receiving a sweet drop pass from Gursher "Tampon" Randhawa flying down the left wing still wearing his Gorilla cage. Second half poor defensive coverage and Blues goalie screened led to Tornado's scoring 3 goals of their own to tie it up. Martin then scored on a laser like feed from Bindy "All In" Aulukh beating Tornado goalie blocker side. Shortly after that Blues took another penalty where Tornados scored again on PP as goalie was screened by own defenseman.

Amar "Ice Cold Veins Banana Eating Buffy Vampire" Sandhu was in depressed pissed off mood, no one could figure out what the hell was wrong with him as he sat on the bench straight back staring across the floor.

Next up OT, Blues had a few chances to put it away but couldn't convert.

Then there was the Shootout, first shooter Bindy "All In" Aulukh scored 5 hole to put Blues up 1-0. Next up Tornado player beat Jimmy "I pissed off i'm not married yet" Mattu 5 hole. The following 8 shooters no one could score, with the Tank failing miserable on an attempted Ovechkin/Stamkos deke like move...the Blues bench was being depleted with the likes of Gursher "Tampon" Randhawa and Deesh "I can't shoot" Khaira remaining and nervously awaiting their turn, but there was one other player still sitting in isolation with a perplexed pale Underworld Evolution vampire complexion. Yes the deadly Amar "Ice Cold Veins Banana Eating Buffy Vampire"....he approached centre ice...with a semi run speed walking velocity approached the tornado goalie, made a little forehad backhand move to get opposing goalie moving and BURIED IT 5 HOLE!!!! WOW, the mighty Blues bench went wild as Mr Sandhu casually strolled back towards centre Buffy, as he got mauled by little Kapil "Horndog" Gaba, he uttered "Get away from me...and go to Jimmy". LOL. The team then flocked toward Jimmy to congratulate him but he shunned guys off still steaming over the screened goals he got scored on. Nonetheless Bimbo outplayed opposition goalie in shootout.

After all the celebrations the Blues could not find the key to locked dressing room and required assistance of Janitor to cut the lock. Janitor received a few Hip Hip Hoorays upon successful cutting of the lock.

What a game!

Blues 3 - 2 Scorpionz

Blues dominated this affair with the not so deadly surrey scorpionz building a 3-0 at the half. Bob "my jock strap is too small" Dosanjh buried first goal with extraordinary effort by InderBir "I Love Toronto" Sandhu who battled along the boards to extract the ball and make a nice pass to Sota Singh. Inderbir then buried the next goal as The Tank kept the ball in at the blue line feeding Sota Singh who passed to wide open Inderbir. The 3rd goal was then scored by Harvir "Head Down" Sidhu on a wicked slapshot from the right side.

Second half Blues got into some penalty trouble with scorpionz still being outplayed managed a couple point shots which got by Jimmy "I'm only 67.845%" Mattu. Blues then finished the game strong controlling majority of the play.

Blues Management wants all players to read the rule sheet so we can cut down on our penalties. Overall we have improved in turnovers and line changes as guys are getting comfortable with our Blues system.

Special request to Gursher "Tampon" Randhawa, get rid of your cage it inhibits your ability to track the ball efficiently.

The Blues have acquired some sponsorship from Gaba Travels with offices in Vancouver, Surrey, Toronto and Jalandhar. Buy your airline, cruise or any other tickets from Gaba Travels. They even have personnel to acquire Indian Visa's on your passport on your behalf....crazy good service!!!

Blues now slick new high quality navy blue with yellow and white trim Blues jersey's.

Thanks to Kapil "Tight Shirt" Gaba!!

In other news, after Bal "'I'm only 67.845%" Mattu played forward 1 game, he has decided to strap on the pads and play goalie full-time. Blues now have the best goalie in the division once again. Yay.

Demons 7 - Blues 2

Blues squared off against the C2 Demons for the first time with a new goalie Aman "Hitman" Sandhu. Demons came out strong pinning Blues in their own zone for first few minutes and scoring early. They poured it on for next 10 minutes but Blues kept their cool and tied it on the PP with a point shot from Captain "Tank".

Demon's scored again on some key turnovers in neutral zone, and went up 4-1. Blues sniper Gary "I like wood" Gill scored with an assist from Sukh "White Helmet" Dosanjh. The young gun line then lost 3 faceoffs in a row and got scored on 3 times late to put it away for good. Blues managment was not impressed with young gun effort and decision making.

Blues played well overall and continue to learn and can definitely outplay last 2 opponents, we will be re-shuffling lines next game to further improve our offensive attack. On defense Baldeesh "Loose Helmet" Khaira made his debut and will be a well added addition to defense core.

It is to be 75% of players on Blues do not have any ball hockey league experience, overall it was a great effort as Blues expect first quarter of season to work out the kinks and establish a playing system.

Goals came from forwards Martin "Sport Chek" Gringberg and Adam "Speedster" Rweineiski. Gur "The Tank" Randhawa popped in an assist along with Bindy "All in" Aulukh.
